Mr. Hurley is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee. He received his Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University College of Law and did his undergraduate work at Emory University and the University of Tennessee. Mr. Hurley has received the Elder Law Attorney Certification from the National Elder Law Foundation (NELF), making him one of only seven certified elder law attorneys in Georgia – and one of less than 400 hundred nationwide. He currently serves as president of the Georgia Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He is a founding member, a board member and a current vice-president of the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association. Mr. Hurley serves on the board of directors for the Lewy Body Dementia Association and is the troop committee chair elect for Boy Scout Troop number 232.
In 1992 shortly after receiving his law degree and beginning his legal career, he became the primary caregiver for his aging grandparents. Interacting with in-home care aides, nursing homes, hospitals and government agencies left him profoundly affected by the experience of managing his grandparents’ day-to-day care and their finances. Mr. Hurley determined that seniors and the disabled needed specialized advice and representation.
He lives in Atlanta, with his wife and three sons.
