Dawn Houston joined Hurley Elder Care Law in 2007 as a Geriatric Care Coordinator, bringing with her 13 years of nursing experience. Ms. Houston graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kennesaw State University. She has extensive experience working with families in all phases of life.
Ms. Houston is responsible for a variety of duties, including life care-planning assessments, counseling and support for seniors and their family members, on-going monitoring of the seniors’ condition/needs, referral to appropriate local providers that serve the medical, housing, financial, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual concerns of clients. Distant family liaison management, crisis intervention and coordination of all the elder service staff involved are additional responsibilities.
At Hurley Elder Care Law, Ms. Houston assists in the creation of the roadmap that best maximizes the elder’s existing resources while matching the client’s needs with additional resources available in the community in order to allow for retention of dignity, independence and the highest level functional capacity for as long as possible.
She has been married for 29 years to Bill, an engineer, and has three grown children and a grandson. Her husband and two sons graduated from Georgia Tech and her daughter is currently a student at Kennesaw State University. Her hobbies include swimming, scrap booking, reading, gardening, and giving parties.
Ms. Houston is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the YMCA, the American Diabetes Association, and the Greater Atlanta Association of Diabetic Educators.
She considers serving our elderly population a privilege and seeks to promote the respect and dignity that our elders deserve in her work with Hurley Elder Care Law.
